Principal's on the Blitz...

What is going on with Education today?... I work in a building with very capable, very interesting and very lovable people. I love the kids, whose abilities are amazing and there are just some really and truly amazing people that I have the privilege to work with... what I don't understand is what is happening in terms of administration... our school holds over 1700 students respectively and we have 8 assistant principal's in the building plus in search of one more. I think that having these administrators would be fine if they were all actually doing something productive for the kids and the school building in general...

I mean we have at least two administrator's who do not teach ANY courses meanwhile there are teachers who teach more than is legally required by our UFT contract. What is that about? I don't know where the school is headed, but I do think that it is about time that someone opened their eyes to what is being done in some of these buildings...(I know this has to be happening at too many of our schools).

I know that education has become more of a political race than anything else, but the reality is that these kids who attend NYC public schools deserve more and better than what they are getting... the unfortunate thing is that there are so many people fighting for buildings, and money, and positions, and not enough advocates for the students whose lives we are in the position to mold!
I get more memos about parking spots than about what books we are purchasing for the kids to read, there are more announcements over the loud speakers about cars having to be moved than there are about what students have received scholarships, or awards for contests... the schools morale is at an all time low and I feel like we keep sinking deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole.
We don't have the luxury as a public school to worry about parking spots, not when the city demands that student take and pass exams that have nothing to do with what is being taught in the state curriculum. I want to hear more conversation about education and less about examinations!

HELP!!!
